Educational Activities
A classroom unlike any other
From coastal beaches to inland riverbanks and lakeshores, the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is more than just a fun and easy way for students and youth to make a difference in your local community, it is also a terrific educational opportunity.
From the shoreline, into the classroom
Extend the educational benefits of shoreline cleanups by downloading and using the brand new and free Curriculum Guides, for BC grades K-7 and Ontario grades K-8. Each of these curriculum guides are linked to and support the Prescribed Learning Objectives of BC and Ontario.
Use as many or as few of these new educational units as you’d like. From an interactive game show to trash audits and storytelling, your class will learn more about the impacts of shoreline litter and what can be done to help keep our shorelines clean.
One year, participants found an 18k gold ring during a cleanup in Ontario. Last year, RCMP divers removed a submerged car from a river in Surrey. It had been reported stolen two years previous.
